Thanks, Nov 20, 2006 , 7:54 PM

my most memorable thanksgiving was the year my parents divorced.
it was one out of the ordinary, because, before my mom left, she was always the one who created all the fixings from desert to main course. the house was thoroughly decorated and a bunch of family members and church members would come over to partake of her smorgasbord.
but not this time.  we three kids had endured a lot that year and our thanksgiving consisted of what the three of us could put together while my dad worked overtime to avoid bankruptcy, which eventually won him. that night we walked to the park across the street from our house.  we each took a swing on the swingset, swung with the breeze of the cool night air, said a prayer of gratitude, and gazed up to the starry sky together.
you don't need turkey for Thanksgiving.
