Monday, November 28, 2005 This Lamp

Tonight was awesome.  The Lamplighter couldn't have been more fun.  I had hesitations about withstanding another 80's night, but it was my friend's birthday- themed, and so on.

So, I wore mock 80's wear...because that is all you have; unless you shop for true vintage on the internet, or saved your 20 year old clothes.  (I'd probably do that. Don't feel bad.)

Let's see: button down striped polo, shoulder-hanging undershirt, skinny tapered pants (I mean, I folded them to taper them...the way they did in the 80's), white high-heels, and my mom's cinched leather jacket (cause, well- it's 80's, dude; my mom.)  I lost my solo earring way too early in the night.

Happy Birthday, Debbie!

I sang "Heartbreaker" on the Karaoke stage.  That was awesome, too. I think the alcohol got to me and I let it all go on that stage.  I've given up the dream of singing professionally a while back, but I have to document that someone who worked with Pat Bennatar was present at the bar tonight and told me that I did Pat justice. I was honored. I had to write about this, not to brag, just to document...because it means a lot to someone who has lost confidence in something that she used to do.

So anyway, it was awesome to be with my old friends again; especially since they were all bundled together- which is rare these days.  Most of them were in their 80's gear; fishnets and button-downs.  They were also fantastic contributors to the singing of the songs of that era.  We all danced on the stage together and cheered the Birthday Girl. I listened to their personal issues, which I love to do, and threw out whatever support I knew.  It was simply the old gang-no surface judgments were apparent...and it was lovely.

Also, I shared info with someone who had past mutual relations with someone I used to see...and that was funny.  It added a kindling perspective that I've never had before.  We confirmed his flaw together, lack of manhood, and laughed at it...evil? Yes.  But, hey- I'm leaving it anonymous, so no harm done.

I still haven't seen a certain, oh, best friend, who was supposed to be there (omg!), and she knows who she is. But, I'm not too bummed, I'm sure I'll run into her sometime. =)

Ah. Goodnight.
